In 2019 we bought a house. Then sh*t hit the fan. In the next few months, us newlyweds started the green card process, Alex was diagnosed with cancer, and we learned we had a baby girl on the way.
It was a crazy time with a lot of unknowns but we found that building shelves and painting walls was keeping us busy and giving us a creative outlet we could do together in a stressful time. That sounds very deep and introspective but in reality it was a lot of just-off measurements, steep learning curves, endless groanable puns and treating ourselves with Thai food after a long, laborious day.
We’re now on our third house, renovating and updating on a budget with two little kids in tow.
This Oregonian and Australian have found a home in the Florida Panhandle and are loving life as Southerners. Hopefully as we share what we’re working on you can find some inspiration in our projects, tackle some of them yourself, or just follow along for fun.

For us, DIY is more than just a way to save money—it’s about creating spaces that truly feel like home. It’s the satisfaction of building something with your own hands, solving problems along the way, and knowing that every project tells a story.
