Kitchen Renovation: Reveal

After nine months of living with makeshift pantry shelves, subsisting on crockpot meals and grilled cheeses, and herding our children away from building supplies scattered around the room, we’re finally finished with our huge down-to-the-studs kitchen renovation.

When we first looked at this house before buying it, the kitchen was the room that made us give each other side eye the most (which is saying a lot because there were literally dead bugs in the playroom and a prison cell-looking shower in one of the bathrooms).

I could always imagine how much it would change the entire function of the house if we removed some walls and reconfigured the whole kitchen, and aside from being beautiful now it’s done, it’s now also so much more functional. I can cook dinner and still see the kids playing nearby, it’s more conducive to conversation when friends are over, and the natural light removing the wall brings into both spaces was something we didn’t expect but it was a nice perk.

I won’t waffle on for too long, but we’re just so proud of how this turned out and also a little nervous because taking photos and sharing them on the internet kind of feels like releasing our child out into the world. So, here’s some before photos to get a full understanding of what we were working with:

And now, the afters:

We used Shaker Maple Iron Framed Cabinets from Cabinets.com.

What do you think of our kitchen renovation? This has made such a huge impact in the feel of our home and I’m so glad I can cook something other than crockpot meals again.

We still need to recap our kitchen sources, a budget breakdown, and more details, so make sure to sign up to our newsletter and follow along on Instagram for more.

Happy DIYing!
