Shop Our Home

It’s moving week!

We’ve got (almost) all of the house packed, we’ve got our Uhaul booked, all our closing documents ready, and… a hurricane headed right for us tomorrow.

IT’S FINE.

In our six years together, Alex and I have moved to four states and the process of moving itself has been dramatic just about every time. Leaving Wyoming, we decided on a whim to leave right after our last day at work, driving 23 hours through the night to Kentucky two days before Christmas. I decorated our Uhaul with tinsel and we made it through a blizzard in South Dakota and a tornado warning under green skies in Iowa before making it to our new home.

From Kentucky to Florida, the connector holding Alex’s car onto the back of the Uhaul was coming loose and setting off sparks all over I-65, something we didn’t know until a random passerby started honking and waving madly at us. From Florida to Louisiana, Alex had to leave a few days early to start work and I drove the 26’ truck alone like an old trucker woman, then I shredded a tire and broke down for a few hours on the side of the highway about 45 minutes from Baton Rouge.

Let’s hope that this time, having added a baby to the mix and two days after a hurricane makes landfall, it’s somehow less eventful. Oh, and if you missed the backstory on why we’re moving, you can find it here.

Anyway, to the point of this post. As we’re just about to leave our cute little first home, we figured we’d do a “shop our home” type post. This is in part to answer some of the questions we get asked a lot on our Instagram when we post home photos, and also in part so we can remember all these things in the next house.

If you’re curious about any of the paint colors in our home, you can find a post on that here.

If you’ve made it this far, thanks for indulging us in this little goodbye to our house, and if you’re curious about the changes we’ve made, you can find a few before & afters here. If there are any links we’ve forgotten to add, let us know, and subscribe to our newsletter here to see what kind of drama we endured making it to Florida!
