Top Amazon Prime Day Deals for Home Improvement Projects

You wouldn’t believe the trouble I had convincing Alex that we needed Amazon Prime, not just for all the Amazon Prime Day perks. He’s always thought any kind of subscription service was boujee and extra (unless it’s sports related, of course), so I broke down the price to him in our budget and would even spontaneously quiz our friends on whether they had it, to which of course they all responded ‘umm, you don’t already?!

Finally, once we owned a house and I was pregnant he said yes, probably after imagining all the middle-of-the-night trips he’d need to make to the store for formula or air filters or something when I pulled the new-mum card. And of course, once we were Prime bitches it was life-changing.

This will be our first Amazon Prime Day really getting into the spirit and I’ve had a few items on my list forever waiting to see if they’d go on sale (everyone else has approximately 1.567 items on their wishlist or in their ‘saved for later’ cart, right??). So, without waffling on for too long, here are our favorite sales from Prime Day this year.

FOR THE HOME

Keurig coffee maker

This is the exact coffee maker we got as a gift when Eleanor was born and it was obviously a life saver. My favorite part is that it has an iced coffee setting which to be honest, in the seven months we’ve had it, is the only setting I’ve used because iced coffee is lyf.

Shark vacuum

This is also the exact model we’ve got in our home. We went without a vacuum for an embarrassingly long time and being that we’ve got two black dogs and light-colored rugs, the right vacuum is very important!

Instant Pot

When we moved into our new house, it had a big, commercial-looking oven that wasn’t installed because it didn’t fit anywhere. We’ve now sold it, but we’re oven-less for now so an Instant Pot is pretty high on my list. This one is almost 60% off for Prime Day.

Echo Dot

We’re Google Home people already, but if we weren’t, this Echo Dot is objectively an incredible deal. Take it from us, once you’ve started on the smart home bandwagon, it’s hard to get off, but it’s so handy to just ask it about the weather or to do quick math when you’re surrounded by tools and terrible wood cuts.

Smart lights

Here we are talking about smart home products again, but once you’ve got the device you obviously need the lightbulbs for when you’re so comfy on the couch and forgot to turn the light off.

Outdoor string lights

Who doesn’t want a set of string lights to make their backyard look like a hipstery, airy beer garden? NOT US.

Roomba

Yeah, sometimes she’s dramatic and sends us a phone alert saying she’s “near a cliff” but having Roomba just scurry around and pick up for us is so handy on the busy days (particularly since we’re all home all the time making messes now)

TV mount

Self-explanatory, but makes such a big difference in how much space you’ve got on your TV cabinet/mantle for all the seasonal decorating which is obviously the most important thing.

FOR DIY PROJECTS

Shelf brackets

These are the same brackets we used in our mudroom/home office area in the last house and we loved that they were chunky black modern brackets without being too farmhousey.

Floating shelf brackets

Speaking of shelf brackets, this one is a bit of a spoiler, but these are the brackets we’re using in our laundry room One Room Challenge makeover.

Speed square

Your eyeballs and a level will not cut it, friends. You need a speed square especially when you’re putting together projects like drawers or furniture that really need to be level. This one’s almost 50% off today!

Clamps

I’m not even sure clamps need an introduction – they’re such an essential for DIY (especially if you work solo a lot and could use an extra set of hands)

Kreg system

We went without a pocket-holing system for a long time when we started out in DIY, but it makes such a difference in the strength and appearance of pieces like furniture.

FOR FUN

Better Homes & Gardens subscription

I don’t know about you, but I’m one of those twenty-something old people that still like reading magazines, and BHG is on sale for 99 cents for six months right now. But shit, it was 99 cents.

Weighted blanket

Okay, if we’re going to talk game changers in our lives, this is it. Alex was skeptical about the weighted blanket but when I was pregnant and had the insomnia that nobody seems to tell you about beforehand, this blanket helped me sleep so much better. I initially ordered a single size just to keep on my side of the bed but Alex took a glorious nap with it one day and demanded I return it for the queen size that drapes across the whole bed.

50” TV

A big ticket item, obviously, but we’re in the market for a new TV since ours was seemingly fine after the move but when we turned it on it showed us the rainbows of death.

Ceramic pet bowls

A little bit extra for your pets, but why shouldn’t your pet bowls match your decor?

Wooden cooking utensils

I always feel fancier using nice cooking utensils, and these ones would also look so pretty in a crock on the kitchen counter.
