How the Ninja Creami Has Changed My Life

Let me paint you a picture: Itā€™s 9:30 p.m., the kids are finally asleep, and all I can think about is a sweet treat to celebrate surviving another day (my ancestors are probably so embarrassed of me). When I first heard about the Ninja Creami, I hesitated. Did I really need another appliance taking up precious counter space?

Between the air fryer, the Instant Pot, and crockpot, my kitchen storage is already kind of struggling. But after weeks of being influenced on TikTok, realizing I could eat a whole pint of ice cream while I rewatch Girls and not feel like a raccoon after (plus a sneaky little Amazon deal), I caved.

And Iā€™m here to tell you itā€™s exactly as good as the influencers said it would be.

So, What Exactly is the Ninja Creami?

Itā€™s like a personal ice cream makerā€”but better. You start by freezing your base (a mixture of protein powder, milk, or whatever youā€™re using) in a pint-sized container overnight.

The next day you put the frozen pint into the machine and using some kind of blendy magic, the Creami churns it all into the best Wendyā€™s Frosty texture. Iā€™ll never understand how it works but itā€™s amazing.

I will say, the one big downside is the noise. This thing sounds like a jet engine taking off and the kids quite literally cover their ears while itā€™s running. So if youā€™re trying to have a secret Creami, just know the whole neighborhood is gonna hear it.

My Go-To High Protein Ninja Creami Ice Cream

I tried a few different recipes online and tweaked it until I got this perfect mix. It makes the best consistency every time, and I usually will batch like six or so Creamis to freeze at once so Iā€™m kind of meal prepping my dessert.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup milk (I use Fairlife for extra protein)
  • ā…“ cup cottage cheese (full fat preferably)
  • 1 scoop protein powder of choice (my go-to is CleanSimpleEats, itā€™s truly the BEST flavor & texture)
  • 1 tablespoon sugar-free vanilla pudding mix

Instructions:

  • Dump all the ingredients into the pint and give it a mix (using an immersion blender or hand frother helps a lot!).
  • Once the Creami is frozen after at least 12 hours, run the pint through the ā€˜lite ice creamā€™ setting. Once itā€™s done, open it up and make a well in the middle and add a splash of milk and any mix-ins youā€™re using then run it on ā€˜re-spinā€™.

Itā€™ll come out with the perfect consistency, trust me!

Flavor & Mix-In Combos

Let me tell ya, leftover Halloween candy hates to see us and a frozen Creami pint coming. I got a sample pack of the CleanSimpleEats protein flavors before committing so we had a good couple weeks of testing all the combos.

My personal favorite of the protein powders are mint chocolate cookie and brownie batter, theyā€™re so good. Alex likes the plain olā€™ vanilla, chocolate-peanut butter and maple donut.

We usually add in thin Oreos (which are fairly low calorie for the serving size of, like, four), and some low calorie chocolate syrup. We also sometimes add fun size candy bars but the ones with caramel like Twix donā€™t mix very well because the caramel gets super hard and gunks up the blade, so we chop them up really small and top it with them.

The whole pint is around 400 calories depending on the protein powder and mix-ins, and has around 40g of protein!

Iā€™ve seen a ton of recipes to make milkshakes and fruit sorbets in the Ninja Creami, too, but havenā€™t tried them yet.

Final Thoughts

For someone like me, whoā€™s always on the hunt for high-protein, low-sugar treats, the Creami has been a revelation. Even Alex, who was initially a big hater of adding another appliance, asks for one Every. Single. Night.

This Creami really does earn its keep, especially if you get that lilā€™ sumā€™n sweet feel after dinner like a disease. Oh and also, all the parts are dishwasher friendly!
